EXPLORE SAT PREP:  This SAT Prep Institute is a great way for students to prepare for the SAT Reasoning Test.  The weeklong institute covers all sections of the SAT test including,

• Extensive training sessions and practice tests for each section of the SAT exam
• Essay scoring and notes from a professional editor
• Specific strategies for each type of question on the SAT
• General test-taking methods
• Complete explanation of each question and answer on camp practice tests

Instructor Bio
Annabel Rorden, M.Ed., has worked in education for several years, and has taught SAT preparation courses for the past ten years. She currently divides her time working as both a guidance counselor and as a math intervention specialist at San Lorenzo Valley high school. Additionally, she runs a private tutoring and test preparation center, where she and her staff assist students with math, language arts, and organizational skills, and also run year-round classes and workshops in SAT/ACT prep and general test taking strategies. Students taking her 6-week SAT course typically raise their scores by at least 150 points.


EXPLORE CAREERCAMP HIGH SCHOOL:  Explore and cultivate your interests, skills and abilities, learn about the world of work and engage in practical, hands-on activities. This class will include career exploration, college awareness and planning, and strategies for making the most of the high school experience. Students will create their own career portfolio including a resume, letter of introduction, success plan and much more!

Instructor Bio
Julie Edwards provides a range of counseling, career guidance, and educational services to students in her work with the Santa Cruz County Office of Education, Regional Occupational Program. She also has a private practice as an independent college and career counselor. Her work is strengthened by her education, professional experience, and personal integrity. She possesses a California Pupil Personnel Services credential and holds a MA in Education, Counseling & Student Personnel from San Jose State University.


EXPLORE COLLEGE & CAREER READINESS 101:  This class will offer students an opportunity to learn about themselves. Our goal is to explore career choices in detail and generate a portfolio, which will contain career interest assessments, career choices, goals, 4 year plans, job application samples, college application sample, majors applicable to career choices and a college resource list that fits your interests.  Students will also focus on colleges within the United States that offer students the most resources. These colleges may include: Ivy League schools, community colleges and career specific schools. Students will review college requirements by institution and entrance exams needed for admissions. Students will complete a mock college application, job application and attain some interview skills needed for the 21st century.
